Founded in 2014 in Creuse, Women Active develops projects at the intersection of hip-hop and funk cultures, transmission and artistic creation.
Born from a desire to create more accessible, supportive and artistically ambitious spaces for funkstyles dances, the association has spent over ten years building an ecosystem of festivals, battles, international camps, arts engagement, choreographic productions and community projects.
Through events such as Lock Is Not A Joke, Pop Is Not A Joke, Funk Is Not A Joke, Lack Of Funk and Top Rock Is Not A Joke, Women Active actively contributes to the development and transmission of funk cultures internationally.
Since 2014, Women Active has paid particular attention to the place of women, young artists and underserved audiences in spaces for creation, transmission and connection.
Rooted in a rural setting, the association also champions a vision in which contemporary creation, groove, memory, transmission and collective energy become tools for connection, exchange and empowerment.
Women Active now supports a range of artistic and choreographic projects, particularly those of Compagnie Zion, building bridges between the stage, local communities, transmission and new generations.
Women Active provides the association’s organisational and local foundations. Art-Track manages the production of choreographic works and selected projects as executive producer.
